Does the iphone protection care coverage cover broken iphone screens?

Q. I accidently broke my iphone screen and all 3 outer buttons do not work, but I have the 2 year protection coverage. Will Apple fix ALL the damages?

A. The AppleCare Protection Plan, which is the 2 year plan that it sounds like you have, does not cover "accidental damage", which sounds like what this is...it could still be fixed, but you would have to pay an Out-of-warranty cost of $199 on the device, assuming it can still be fixed.

does the new iphone 4 provide better phone service then the iphone 3gs?
Q. Hi, i just got a new iphone 3gs about 3 weeks ago, so im going to switch it for the new iphone 4.
But my dad says he should get the new iphone 4 while i keep the 3gs because it gets better service.
Is that true?

A. As long as you do not cover the ends of the antenna (the little gaps in the metal band going around the phone, they are about a half an inch above the bottom of the phone) then yes it does get better service, because the metal band IS the antenna, so as long as you do not cover the ends you get better reception because the signal does not have to go through the body of the phone like the 3GS does.

What do people mean when they say unlock the iphone for tmobile?
Q. I want an iphone but I have tmobile. People say just unlock it. What does that mean?

A. If your iPhone is with AT&T, unlocking is the process of rooting (Jailbreaking), and then installing an app from the Cydia store that will trick the iPhone to think it can use any carrier as long as there is a SIM card. However, rooting the phone VOIDs the warranty. Even if you bought a locked iPhone from AT&T for $200, and paid the $350 ETF you will be responsible for, that is still a $550 cost for a phone that will not be covered under warranty.

My advise is wait through October. Rumors (nothing official) says that iPhone 5 will be available for any carrier, and will support both AT&T's and T-Mobile's 3G bands (iPhone 3/4 only supports 2G on T-Mobile). It is also supposed to support CDMA and GSM in one device which means you will be able to take it to any carrier without real problems. If you must have the iPhone 4 now, and you are willing to deal with 2G service, consider buying it unlocked from Apple for $650. It will work on either AT&T, Simple Mobile, or T-Mobile without VOIDing the warranty, or having a bad name with AT&T,
