How do you tell if an Iphone 4 is unlock-able?
Q. I have an iphone 4 running 4.2.1 firmware, i am thinking of getting my iphone unlocked with iphoneunlockuk.com, however i read somewhere that you need to firstly check whether your imei number is authorized for unlocking and also if your iphone is unlock-able, how do i go about finding these out?
A. it is only related ur firmware.
here is a smart unlocker tool that works with the latest 4.2.1.

Is it possible to have an Iphone through Verizon?
Q. If i get an iphone, unlock it or whatever, can Verizon support it, or do i need a Sim card or something?
A. No, you cannot because the iPhone is a GSM phone (see attached specifications), and Verizon uses a CDMA network (no SIM card). Even if you were able to get the iPhone unlocked, it is not compatible with Verizon's network.
Also, see the attached article regarding plans for a CDMA-compatible iPhone.
