What is the difference between iPhone 3g and iPhone 3gs?

Q. Is it better than iPhone 3g? How much does it cost and should I sell my iPhone 3g for the 3gs?

A. it is slighlty better than iphone 3g but iphone 3g will get the software update for free. the only hardware features u will lack is: a digital compass, 1mpx more on ur camera, and maybe a slightly better battery and/or processor.
is it worth to sell ur iphone 4 the new 1? that depends on how much u want the v slight improvements in hardware. if u just bought ur iphone u mite be able to return it for a refund. otherwise u wud hv to pay over 199 for iphone 3gs cos u hvnt kept ur contract for 2yrs. personally i wud keep the iphone i hv cos they r gna release a newer 1 a yr after and it will be the same story over again. however apple might not allow the current iphones to record video or bluetooth connect or watever cos they might give a lame excuse like it wud drain battery life 2 quickly, there might be too much lag...

if u can live without these features dont get iphone 3gs:
- slightly faster
- predicted better battery life (but iphone 3g battery life might improve as well with software updates)
- video recording (not sure if iphone 3g gets it as well looking at apples site)
- voice control (idk y apple wudnt allow current iphone 3g users to get this but on there site, it doesnt show iphone 3g with this)

hope i helped

What will be the difference between the iphone and iphone 3g?
Q. i am looking into buying the iphone 3g, but what are the differences between the old one and the new one.

also i have been looking into zibris blog and i couldnt find any answers weather or not it could be jailbroken or unlocked.

please answer both questions not just one

A. There are a many differences between the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G. Some were released at the keynote address on June 9, but some are yet to be announced.

What we know: The new iPhone is thinner at the edges and is slightly thicker. The back side is now a solid black or white (8 GB - Black, 16 GB - Black or white). The new iPhone has 3G capabilities, which can triple internet browsing speeds (Depending on location). It now has GPS, which can locate your exact location and give turn by turn directions. It can be used with exchange and other corporate internet servers, and it will have a app store for 3rd party applications to be sold. The headphone jack is now flush which allows you to use any standard headphone plug. The new iPhone starts at $199 and the old one started at $399.

What we do not know: Will it have a better battery? Steve Jobbs said that it will have improved audio, but what does that mean? Will text messaging be included in the $30 per month data plan for iPhone 3G?

You might be able to "Jailbreak" if by jailbreak you mean add applications not made by apple, however would be pointless because the iPhone 3G will allow 3rd party apps anyway.

You WONT be able to unlock your phone because all iPhones will have to purchased and activated at and AT&T store or Apple store. You can no longer activate via iTunes. You could always pay the early termination fee and cancel your contract with AT&T then MAYBE be able to unlock.

Hope this helps - Brandon

Will the iPhone 3G be difficult to get during the first week?
Q. I really want to get the iPhone 3G this weekend but wonder what my chances of getting one are. Do you think there will be crazy long lines & waits at the stores? Or do you think the demand isn't that great this time around? Should I wait a month or so or just go ahead and get it?

A. Yes, I'm one of those girls who wait in line the day a shiny new gadget goes on sale, and the iPhone 3G is one of the shiniest gadgets of all. But while I'll be out there waiting in the wee hours of July 11 (it's my job, after all), the rest of you should think twice before losing sleep on launch day. Here's why.

1. Shortages are unlikely
Remember last year, when we all got in line early for the iPhone because we were afraid it would sell out? Well, that didn't quite happen. Yes, individual AT&T stores sold out quickly, but many Apple stores had plenty of iPhones in stock in the days and weeks after the big day. (Indeed, there werenât any serious iPhone 1.0 shortages until just recently.) Also, word of hundreds of massive overseas shipments bound for Apple (which began arriving as early as March) leads me to believe that there's a healthy supply of iPhone 3Gs on hand. So if you're worrying about a Wii-like shortage of the iPhone 3G, well ... I wouldn't.

2. Chaos on Day One
Unlike last year, customers won't be able to activate their new iPhones over iTunesâinstead, clerks will have to activate them in the store, contracts will have to be signed on the spot, and new AT&T subscribers will have to undergo credit checks. It could take a good 10-15 minutes per customerâand that's if things go smoothly. It'll be a new process for everyoneâespecially for Apple Store employees, who aren't accustomed to processing cell phone contractsâso I'm anticipating (dreading, actually) a train wreck next Friday. Even if you're dying to lay hands on the iPhone 3G, you might want to wait a week or so until they get the kinks worked out.

3. 32GB iPhone 3G on the horizon
I was keenly disappointed when Steve Jobs didn't unveil a 32GB iPhone last monthâindeed, all we got were 8GB and 16GB versions, and I'd personally like an iPhone that I could cram with as much music and video as I can stand. Here's the thing, thoughâa 32GB iPhone 3G is probably coming within the next six months, if not sooner (well, that's my guess). If I wasn't buying the 16GB iPhone 3G for Yahoo! Tech, I'd probably sit tight and wait for the 32GB version to arrive.

4. Best new iPhone features are coming to the original iPhone
Yes, the iPhone 3G will be getting GPS and, of course, 3Gâbut for now, you can't download music tracks over AT&T's 3G network or access AT&T's streaming video service. For me, the most exciting thing about the new iPhone is the upcoming App Store, which will be stocked with scores of 3D games, chat clients, productivity apps, RSS readers, you name itâand the App Store will be available July 11 as a free upgrade to the old iPhone. That'll keep you busy till the 32GB iPhone comes out.

5. The HTC Touch Diamond
I've seen the future of cell phones, folks, and it's called the HTC Touch Diamond. With its gorgeous VGA screen, beautiful touch-screen interface, and compact, light-weight shell, the Diamond is the first phone to make me green-eyed with envy since ⦠well, since the original iPhone. The Diamond is set to arrive in the U.S. in September, and spy shots of a Sprint-branded Touch Diamond are already circulating on the Web. You might want to give the Diamond a serious look before committing to a new two-year iPhone contract.
