What is wrong with my ipod touch? Is this something normal?

Q. Ok well I have an i home and so does my mom. And when i plug my ipod in it says charging not supported with this accesory. Same with my mom. Why is that is it normal. By the way it is 2cnd generation ipod touch but my cuz has 1st generation and hers did work. Does any one else have this problem. Also does anyone know a wall charger for the ipod touch second generation, a website would be great for that.

A. The 2nd generation iPod Touch along with the iPhone 3G and the 4th generation iPod Nano are incompatible with previous generation accessories. Apple changed the pin settings inside in the port. There are plenty of cheap chargers available online though. Check out

what is the difference between an ipod touch 2G and 3G?
Q. Do the different generations mean different apps, downloads, or special accesories??

A. For external identification, the second generation iPod touch and third generation iPod touch can be differentiated most easily by model number:

For all the differences, an independent comparison can be useful:

The 32 GB and 64 GB configurations of the third generation iPod touch also will fully support iPhone OS 4, whereas the second generation iPod touch (and 8 GB third generation iPod touch) will not fully support the latest operating system:

Hope this helps!

i try to charge ipod nano on a sound dock or by a car FM transmitter it says the accessory is unsupported?
Q. in the middle of the screen it has a symbol and under the symbol its says this accesory is unsupported. is this because its the new 4th Gen?

A. If it's a 4th gen nano, it will only support iPod charging accessories that meet certain criteria. When I upgraded from my 1st gen to my 2nd gen touch, the wall charger i was using was no longer supported. Look for products that support the iPod nano 4G, ipod touch 2G, iPod classic 120GB and iPhone 3G. If something says works with iPhone, it should work with your nano.
i found this really annoying too, as I had a lot of accessories from my 160GB classic and 1st gen touch that suddenly stopped working.
If it helps, I'm now using budget Logitech PureFi speakers (PureFi Express Plus) and they work perfectly. Try a big brand FM transmitter, and look for the symbol 'Works with iPhone'.
Hope this helps =]
