If i belong to Verizone and my contract expires is a new cell cheaper?

My contract expires July 6th 2011 and i wan't the iPhone4 and currently have the CRAPPY enV touch and after my contract expires would i be do for like an upgrade and get the iphone cheaper or not and if not when will i be due for an upgrade and what is an upgrade im very confused i just really wan't the iPhone oh and im not tech. retard i just dont get the whole contract phone upgrade system thing!

A. Yeap you should be eligible for a upgrade already. Just visit any Verizon store and tell them your contract ends in less than two weeks and they will assist you. Since you contract is almost over, you can get the iphone 4, 16GB for 199.99 or iphone, 32 GB for 299.99. Once you purchase your iphone 4, you would have to re-new your contract for another 2 years which would last until July 6, 2013.

Just to let you know, Verizon requires that you add a unlimited internet data plan of 29.99 per month in addition to your monthly voice plan with your iphone. So it can be expensive with your monthly bill.

Since all of the customizable features for iPhones are pretty snug (and, let's face it, Apple will make people pay for anything), you can bet that you'll need to get new fitted accessories with the new phone.

Why is my new mophie Iphone 3g case making a "buzzing" sound?

Q. I just bought a new mophie rechargeable iphone 3g case from a seller on ebay. It came brand new in the box. I placed my iphone in it, and everything worked fine until i started hearing a very annoying buzzing sound coming from the case. I was wondering why this is happening, and if there is a solution?

A. lol , its buzzing because its from China. A majority of their electronics have this issue (that's y its cheaper). If you got it for cheap, then you'll have to get it fixed. If it has manufacturer's warranty, try to go for it. But most likely they'll tell you its not the real thing so the warranty won't cover it.

If you paid full price for it. Contact the seller right away and let him know. If he's not willing to make it right. File a "ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED" claim. He'll either refund you right away, or ebay/paypal will reimburse you.

Is it legal to jailbreak iPhones and iTouches?

Q. Im not going to do it because it is stupid but I heard that it is now legal to jailbreak iPhones and iTouches now. This means your warranty isn't voided at all by it. Is that true?

A. Yes, it's legal. It's your phone. Apple just doesn't want people doing it, because then the phone wouldn't work with the applications (apps) they charge so much to add on. With something like an Android, the operating system is open source code, meaning anyone can have access to it and develop whatever apps they want and can get their hands on. And, jailbreaking an Apple phone basically downloads open source operating system code onto it, so you can download a lot of cool apps that hackers have developed for free.

It's kind of like if someone developed their own OS that worked on a Microsoft computer. Would Microsoft be pleased to know that people are downloading a different, open source OS on their computers? No, of course not. Because the computer then would not work with off-the-shelf (and expensive) Microsoft apps.

So, to discourage jailbreaking, Apple first declared that any jailbroken Apple product is no longer under warranty. Also, each successive OS version had more sophisticated code to prevent existing jailbreak code from working. so, if you update the firmware on your phone or get a new one, the existing jailbreak code won't work. But, it's only a matter of time until the hackers figure out the latest code.

A. It depends on who your provider is. For att it will be $275 a month for unlimited talk, text and 2gb of data for all three phones. Break down is $70 for the first line and $50 for each additional for unlimited talk. Then $30 fo unlimited text for all three lines. $25 a line for 2gb of data.

A. Nope. The iphone stores all the contacts on the phone itself and not the sim card (other phones you have the choice). Messages, call records, preferences, are almost always stored on the phone itself (and i can tell you that the iphone does too).

If you removed your sim card and put it into another phone, the other phone will be completely without your messages, etc. But the iphone will still have all your settings and records.

If you want to get rid of these settings (and that's your real question) you can do so by plugging it into itunes and clicking restore.

A. "People" don't know what they are talking about apparently. My brother got a new Galaxy S II couple of months ago & has already had to replace the battery cause it started heating up & killing his power. My dad also got a Galaxy S III & has already bought a replacement battery. Android as a whole usually doesn't have good battery life.

The iPhone 5 on the other hand has good battery life. There was an issue when iOS 6.0.1 & 6.0.2 were out but since iOS 6.1 has come out that issue has since been resolved.

This is a branch of probability and statistics called z-score.

A z-score is equal to

z = ((STAT) - mean) / SD

Here, we need the z-scores for 22 hours and 30 hours.

z = (22 - 26) / 5 = -.8

z = (30 - 26) / 5 = .8

Looking a z-score chart we need to find the p-values

p-value of z=-.8 is .2119
p-value of z=-.8 is .7881

To find the probability the battery will last in between 22 and 30 hours, simply subtract the p-value of the upper range (30 hours) with the p-value of the lower range (22 hours)

.7881 - .2119 = .5762 or 57.62% chance the batter will last between 22 and 30 hours

A. It depends. Giving you a probability would be all well and good but completely useless. People buy iPhones to look cool, because they love apple or because its a business phone (in most cases). The chances of the battery lasting that long on standby are quite high, but with normal to heavy usage it will drain within maybe 12hrs. For some people, it might be ok if they charged it once every 2 days but as an iPhone user i charge it every night without fail. so to conclude it is impossible to give an accurate probability although i can safely say it will last 30 hrs on standby

How to DIY Swarovski Crystal Cigarette Case?

Q. I like bling bling swarovski .So shine want make it self for my cigarette case ,Any one know where i buy swarovski and how to make it ?

A. You can do this and not only is it easy but it is also less expensive than buying one handmade. I know I've looked! I wanted a Swarovski Crystal iPhone case for so long but they were like $200-$300! I decided to buy enough crystals to do my iPhone case and the front of my cigarette case.

What you will want to do is watch the how to video for making the crystal headband and apply the same technique to your cigarette case. Remember to 'honeycomb' the crystals for maximum shine!

Swarovski crystals come in all sizes I used size 12SS for my cigarette and iPhone case. I latter learned that many companies use the large 16SS to cut down on costs but you will get more shine with the 12SS. Genuine Swarovski Crystals come in sealed packets of 1440 crystals (around $50-$70 depending on size and color) One packet of 12SS crystals was enough to do my entire iPhone 4 case (trim including) and the front of my cigaret case (roughly 4' x 2'). If you plan on using multiple colors you might think about ordering Swarovski Crystals from a craft supply store. I love Amazon for this and will include a store link for you. Most Swarovski retailers will repackage stones in sizes of 140 and 72 but be prepared to pay way more than the package of 1440 crystals.

Note you will want 'FB' crystals or 'Flat Back' crystals not Hot Fix crystals. Flat Back Hot Fix crystals have a heat activated glue on the back which I don't recommend for non fabric applications.

It's a software feature, and can be removed if you have the right tools, but doing so is a breach of contract with your provider while the contract lasts (usually 2 years for new phones).

A. just as maryann stated - when you clicked on restore, it got set back to original configuration (probably newer firmware if older than 1.1.4) and now only accepts AT&T sim.

just need to unlock again and you should be fine. just remember not to update/restore thru itunes, otherwise this will happen again.

there's a freeware that we use and it takes less than 5 minutes with your exisitng data cable. do a search on a major search engine and you should find it. it's the same software that some are selling for $$$ on some auction sites.

A. The iPad 2 is a tablet and the iPhone 4 is a phone. I know a lot of people who own both, including me. And if you're buying the iPhone because of its smaller screen, you can get an iPod Touch, but I recommend iPhone, it's worth it.

And you need to watch out about the return period. In most states, it's only 14 days (I think it's 30 days in California, but check to be sure).

If You Drop an iPhone Will it Smash the Screen?

Q. I'm getting one tomorrow, and i'm very nervous about dropping it. I will probably get an Otter case, but then how will I fit it in my pocket? I'm a girl and I wear skinny jeans, so the pockets aren't big.

A. Girl or boy, get a case with a Lanyard loop and use it to hang it around your neck. Or get a case with a belt/pocket clip. The day for slipping a thin phone in your pocket are over, if you need to worry about it breaking if you drop it.

When I have been out at clubs recently, I have started seeing ladies with bare phones in mesh pouches with lanyards, both the mesh pouch and the lanyard looked like they were made to go with the outfits they were wearing, home made or store bought, I don't know. But for those "Skinny Jeans", no purse, don't wanna carry it in your hand kinda days, it would be an option.

You can see the screen, touch the buttons and well use the phone and with it secure around your neck, unless you run into a wall or fall, you are not going to drop your phone. I have watched more than a few people pulling their phones out of their pockets and dropping them and smash the screens. So anything that keeps the phone from hitting the floor or protecting it is a big plus.

A. The digitizer is what the iPhone uses to detect your finger position and movements on the screen. I'm sure that exposing that to the elements isn't a good idea for a huge number of reasons. I'm even more sure that direct skin contact isn't good for it, either, as your skin is ripe with a number of impurities and oils that are sure to damage the digitizer.

That is, of course, assuming the phone would even work properly without the outer glass. I'm sure there's a reason why the LCD, digitizer, and glass are sold as one part.

It would be smart for you to buy the LCD, digitizer, and glass as one part. It will be easier to replace that way and you can be sure the parts work together properly.

I know it sounds expensive, but it's so worth it. This thing does not get scratched. If you take something sharp to it, it gives a little bit, but eventually goes back to its normal shape. Beware of immitators. A lot of cheap ones float around but this one's the real deal. They use it on helicopter blades to protect them from sand in the desert, apparently.

I went a couple months without any screen protection because the guy at the AT&T store took scissors to the demo phone's screen to show how unscratchable it was. Well, a month or two after purchase I had some dings in the screen from dropping it or from just being in my pocket with keys or change. A. the screen only registers your finger through a transfer of electrons. Your finger transfers them to the screen. Some stylus' work but they have to be specially made for iphone/ ipod touch, because somehow the makers make them transfer electrons.

The other thing is that the screen is made of glass, not plastic. Plastic is less thick, and can register smaller presses, like a stylus.

A. There is a free app in the iTunes store that will let you create designs and then print the for you on skins for various phones and other devices. I have never used their services so I can't speak for their quality or reliability.

Struggling to find a case for my ipod touch 3rd generation?

A. Ok if your thinking that the 2nd gen cases dont fit.....your wrong then because the 2nd gen cases fit the 3rd gen because they are physically the same but internally and software is different. So i would get any case except if its for 1st gen. You cuold get an iphone case but it wont be a tight and it would have different cutouts for headphones so only stick to ipod touch 2nd/3rd gen cases

A. iPhone complains about most iPod accessories... but they still work.

I've used car adapters and several speaker systems... all work, but the radio car kits have some interference.

Airplane mode works even with the radio car adapters.

A. I use a Monster FM Transmitter to play my iPhone in my car. They're around $80 in store, but I bought two (one I used until it broke, and one I replaced the first with) on eBay for around $40. Every now and then you'll run into some static with the signal, but for the most part the Monster doesn't do much of that. Plus it charges your phone.
I used a Griffin FM Transmitter for awhile and noticed a lot more of the signal interference, but it was nice because I could either plug it in and let it charge my phone while it played, or just use the transmitter part and not have any cords.
When I plug my iPhone in to either of those transmitters, a message pops up that says "This accessory was not made to work with iPhone" or something to that effect, but it's never been a problem - it's always worked just fine for me!
The only thing I don't like about using an FM transmitter is that if you don't turn your phone to airplane mode, you get that incoming signal noise whenever you get a phonecall or anything. So if that bothers you like it bothers me, then keep in mind that you won't receive calls while you're using the transmitter in airplane mode.
I don't know of any other transmitters to recommend as I've only used Monster and Griffin, but you could try checking out Amazon.com and reading reviews of any other products you'd consider.

A. You need an enclosure, board layout, firmware programming, etc. Contact an electronics R&D shop, there are plenty of them out there.

Just so you know, the skills and materials needed for this kind of thing are expensive, so be prepared to shell out a lot of cash and be on the hunt for investors. Some R&D firms will meet you half way by reducing upfront costs in exchange for a share of the profits. Its part of the deal, usually inventors only see 10% or so the profits from their idea, but it is better than nothing.

Also, don't be lured in by cheap outsourcing firms...I made this mistake. They'll farm it out to China, but since China doesn't have any copyright or patent laws, they'll "borrow" your design and make their own cheap knockoff after 3-6 months go by, putting you out of business. They even did this with Apple's iPhone and iPad.

A. I was faced with exactly the same choice only a few weeks ago, and I settled with the SIII. Must admit, couldn't be happier. The thing is, my mobile operator heavily advertises 2 years warranty on all of their phones, but it turned out that for the iPhone (which already cost double the SIII), I had to pay an extra 80$! What a rip off!

The iPhone 5 will be just as, if not more, locked down than the iPhone 4S, so personally, now that I've experienced Android, I would never buy it. Plus, the iPhone 5 will have a new connector, and no existing accessories will work with it. The SIII? Oh, it has MicroUSB, the standard for phones and many other things nowdays. You can even hook it up directly to your TV using a cable, or using WiFi. If you want to do that with an iPhone, you need to get a 100$ Apple TV aswell...

The iPhone 4S won't disappear, but the iPhone 3GS which is currently sold on the cheap, will. It will still probably cost more than the Galaxy SIII.

A. As stated before, the broken glass of the screen is not covered by your warranty so there arent many options. The best option is to make an appointment at an apple store and have them replace it. For an 8 gig it will be $199 + tax and for a 16 gig it will be $299 + tax. They dont actually repair it though. They replace the entire phone.

The benefits of doing it this way is that you will still have a warranty on your phone. If anyone other than apple or an apple approved repair center repairs, it, you have no more warranty.

Q. I'm getting the Verizon Iphone saturday but have one question about the "not being able to talk and access data" thing. Does that mean I can't talk and text as well? Or is it just talking about surfing the web and stuff?

A. The iPhone has a nifty "multitasking" feature. This means that when you have an app open, if you double click the home button, then you can open another app. It will save what ever you are doing in the app that you just closed, and then you can resume what you were doing later. Multitasking even works during phone calls. So if you are talking to someone, say on speaker phone or through a mic, you can double click that home button and open up the notepad app for example, while still talking to them.

Now on the AT&T iPhone, if you are talking to someone, you can open up the Safari app (web browser), Youtube app, App Store, or anything that requires data (internet, basically) while still talking to the person. You CANNOT do this on the Verizon iPhone (you can still open other apps that do not require internet).

I am not sure if you can talk and text AT THE SAME TIME. Honestly, I have had the AT&T iPhone 4 since launch and I never had to browse the internet while I was making a phone call, but that is just me.
