Is there a difference between the American iPhone 3Gs and the English iPhone 3Gs?

Q. I want to buy an iphone 3Gs, and the american sites are way cheaper than the UK sites. The american one is about £61 sterling, but the english ones come cheapest at around £450 sterling. I was wondering wether there was a massive difference between the two iPhones, and wether or not it would alter the cost by £400.
