Q. is it possible to install the 3GS iPhone firmware on my iPhone 3G
i do not mean the OS 3.0; i mean THE version especifically made for the 3GS, because, they are different... e.g. the iPhone 3GS comes with the ability to record, and the 3G also has that ability, just that it hasn't been activated... what i want is to install the 3GS especific OS... is that possible?

A. Actually, you both are wrong. The new 3gs iphone is not just a firmware update. The 3gs also has hardware update that makes its faster, but I can only notice that its faster when I play hi-res games. Yes, 3.0 is the updated firmware, but their are two version's of 3.0 firmware, one for 3g, and one for the3gs. What happens if you install the 3gs's 3.0 firmware on the 3g iphone? Your iphone will not function right.

Does the iphone 4s software work on a 3gs iphone?

Q. I was just wondering if anybody has tried putting the new iphone 4s software onto a 3gs iphone. I know that the new software works on the iphone 4 but have heard that if you put it onto a 3gs iphone it doesn't work properly? Does anybody know for sure, or have tried it?

A. iOS 5 works perfectly on the 3GS, but if you are talking about Siri, it's only available on the 4S. However, a developer managed to install it on the iPhone 4 and it worked, but I don't think the 3GS has enough processing power and RAM to support it.
