What's different between the iPhone 4 and the unlocked iPhone 4?

Q. I want to get a iPhone and I saw that you could bye an unlocked iPhone 4. I was wondering what's the difference between the iPhone 4 and the unlocked iPhone 4?

A. Normally if you purchase an iPhone 4 with a contract the iPhone 4 will be locked to the specific service provider. The monthly bills are normally expensive and you will be tied into a lengthy contract as the service provider will want to recoup the cost of the handset as well as providing the mobile service.

An unlocked iPhone can be used with any service provider so you should pay a lower monthly bill however, you pay for the iPhone upfront.

Unlocked iPhone 4's usually have a higher resale value than a locked one.

How do you switch carriers on Jailbroken iphone 4?
Q. I am looking to get an iphone 4 and unlocking it. Once it is unlocked, could I change the carrier to Virgin Mobile or T-Mobile? If so, how?

A. You can not use a GSM phone with a CDMA carrier(Virgin Mobile,Sprint,Verizon,Boost,Nextel(ISDEN)
For Tmobile you need a Micro Sim Card Adapter and the Micro Sim Card Remover..
You have to get the Micro Sim Card Remover from Apple.
You can get the Adapter online... I have included a website and its $5.99 its pretty cheap.
If it takes a Sim Card you can use your phone with it.. Theres no guarantee all the features will work though

Is it possible to permanently unlock an Iphone 4?
Q. I'm planning to jailbreak my Iphone 4, so I can unlock it. Is it possible to remove the jailbreak and still keep it unlocked?
BTW, this is a Japanese Iphone and it's locked to the mobile provider Softbank.

A. Not possible..
you can only unlock the iphone 4 if you jailbreak it and your on baseband 1.59
and if u unjailbreak you lose the unlock.
